MARVELS OF CONSTRUCTION

In MARVELS OF CONSTRUCTION, I blur that fine line that exists between wonder and folly in human ingenuity. These works, originally commissioned for a now defunct, online art magazine are meticulously constructed digitally. To make these compositions I combined scanned cut photos, and Letraset type elements with collage elements created digitally. These collages are part textbook illustration and part surreal, civil engineering dreamscape that attempt to analyze the act of human invention. MARVELS OF CONSTRUCTION questions whether human creativity has built a utopia or created something inescapable and disastrous . The stakes in defining a position along this spectrum are raised and easy clarity becomes compounded by the digital (non-physical) aspect of the works. The answers remain caught between the dream and physical manifestation.
