I have been making art ever since I could hold a pencil.
Erik Parra is a contemporary American artist currently based in San Francisco, CA. His paintings, drawings and collage draw on a collective, cultural memory and the history of painting and film. Interior spaces become cultural self-portraits.

Painting
That’s the painting within the painting. It’s moments that I leave in there, when you get to see all the way through to the underpainting.
Drawing
Familiar looking interior spaces are rendered with an unsettling effect. The attempt to portray living the perfect American Dream.
Collage
It starts with hunting for images that allow room for working with them to create movement, but also appear to operate in that center of space.
Installation
Site specific installations utilize the language of painting, drawing, collage and sculpture in order to create an immersive environment.
