Point-to-Multipoint

The drawings in the Point-to-Multipoint series were executed during a month-long artist in residence program I was invited to participate in at the Elsewhere Artist Collaborative in Greensboro, North Carolina. They were created as part of the final installation and grew out of some exploratory drawings I made during the early stages of my residency. While sourcing objects and looking through all of the stuff at Elsewhere I found the exact Spirograph Drawing set I had as a kid and began to use it to make sketches that incorporated other drawing implements like compasses, stencils and found stamps. As the residency continued I found a catalogue of technical drawing implements became intrigued by the possibility of combining the two contrasting yet oddly similar types of drawing instruments into one form. Because of the residency’s policy that nothing can leave the space I scanned the catalogue to output as inkjet prints and then made the drawings on those pages. I chose a few drawings, photocopied them to remove the color and incorporated them into the final installation as a sort of wall paper. More information about that installation and the residency in general can be found here.
